The Mugshot Cafe, Georgetown.

Penang is famous for themed-cafe. If you happened to be strolling around Georgetown looking for a place to sit and chill, The Mugshot might be a great place for you.

"Our bagels are good, but our coffees are even better." This is the quote Mugshot Cafe live by. So you know what to order :)

Their bagel and homemade yogurts are to die for. Mugshot is a very unique cafe because they only serve bagels, drinks and yogurts.

Their menu ; simple and easy to read.

Their bagel is so fresh because the chef toast it on the spot.

And yes, they don't use gas stove but firewood.

Mango and walnut yogurt, RM10.
Delicious!

Kiwi and honey yogurt, RM10.
It was okay but I felt that mango+walnut was better cuz the honey made the yogurt watery and I don't really dig sweet stuff like honey. :/
If you have a sweet tooth, this will suit your taste.

Turkey ham and cranberry sauce bagel, RM10.

Cream cheese and smoked salmon bagel, RM10.

We were so greedy that we ordered two yogurts. In the end we can't finish it so no coffee for us :(
Must go back again to try their coffee.

Ready to whack!

Your visit to Mugshot will be meaningless if you don't do this :

Mugshot #1

Mugshot #2

The owners are slightly a bit cool so they are not exactly friendly. And the tables and chairs are quite low to suit children but they do have normal tables and chairs behind the cafe. Overall, this place is worth a visit!

LOL-ed so hard at this outside the washroom.

Mugshot Cafe is located at :

302 Chulia Street,
Georgetown, Penang.

Marshall's Burger

Penang has too many burger shops/stalls seriously. Even in USM itself almost every hostel's cafeteria has a burger stall. If you're a burger lover, Marshall's burger will not disappoint you.

Thanks Suzanne and Nick for accompanying me there! :))

Basically, their menu does not have much choice like Mcdonalds do, but their burgers are real yums! They only offer chicken, fish, beef and pork burgers but all the categories have different ingredients to come with. Not to mention their burger's name are quite swaggy! HAHA

Its not easy to get pork burgers so all three of us tried THREE different kinds of pork burgers.
I had The Fat Piglet.
Nick had The Swine something.
Suzanne had The Boar.

It is very thoughtful of them to come up with names related to the animals we are eating. LOL

Nick while waiting for our burgers.

Burger feast!

The Boar.

The Fat Piglet.

Nick was too hungry so I couldn't get a picture of her burger.

Their fries are normal, nothing too special.
They serve something like Carls Jr.'s fries.

All in all, the food portions are quite big and its impossible to finish if you're not a big eater. Their choice of sauce will be ketchup (?) because there is only ketchup in the burgers and all over the fries. Maybe you'll have to ask over at the counter for chilli and other sauces.

The menu.

Working hour.

Happy girls.

This is definitely one of the must-try for people coming for food hunt in Penang!

If you're on diet, just abandon the buns and you can still enjoy the patty, veges and bacon. Their all good source of proteins (and fats). LOL

Marshall's Burger is located at :
124-C, Burma Road,
10350 Georgetown,
Penang.

Ryokan Chic Hostel, Penang

First of all, happy election day! I'm not able to vote yet, so what I can do is to pray and hope for the best. Whatever the outcome is, all we want is just a BETTER Malaysia.

Anyway, this post is not about Election or anything. (keep that for later)

Two of my friends came to visit Penang. Since I'm not going back to hometown, I've decided to join them to stroll around Georgetown, or basically, around the whole Penang. So I joined them for a stay in a backpacker hostel in Georgetown called Ryokan Chic Hostel. The name is so cool right.

I realised I had a thing for backpacker hostel because you'll get to meet all kinds of travelers and listen to their amazing travel stories. So inspiring! My friends pre-booked a suite room beforehand while I stayed in a 6-bed shared dormitory.

Guess what, my dorm mates were a Korean girl called Hyeon Jin and an Indonesian guy called Muleah(?). Haha. Both of them are travelling alone! :O

Ryokan provides a very comfy environment for their guests. They have two floors. Upstairs for the dorms and downstairs for the reception and lounge.

Reception counter!
(yes, they provide u with towel and blanket)

lounge bar

Chilling area.

Chilling area (2)

lol along the staircase, they painted the human evolution on the wall.
So its like you're evolving as you ascend the stairs!

The 6-room mixed dormitory.
(super satisfied with the cleanliness)

Chilling corner upstairs!
(comfy beanbags, some even fell asleep here, lol)

Selca in the room dorm! :)

Typical backpacker hostel free breakfast.
The toasts are yums!

The face of satisfied guest! LOL

Check out this place is your planning to visit Penang!

Ryokan Chic Hostel is located at Lebuh Muntri. Very near to the wall arts. And its walking distance to alot of great foods in Georgetown.
Their staffs are super friendly too! :)

Gotta admit I miss Beary Nice in Singapore after having a stay here. :/
Can't wait to stay in Bee Won this July! :))

Till then,
XOXO.
