Post-STPM.

I remember, this very day last year, it was my STPM result day.
I woke up nervous, worried and scared.
I knew exactly how I did during the papers.
I knew that miracle don't happen all the times.
I got my result and I was disappointed.
3.33.

My engineering dream was crushed into pieces.
Teachers told me, its still possible to go for engineering courses.
Just don't aim too high.
In the end, I applied for Engineering courses in all my upu application.

Ironically, I'm currently doing Communication in USM.
Why?
Because I did not get any offer from upu. Just USM. :)
imagine how devastated I was.
Communication was a course that everyone says I can handle, it suits me and etc.
So I went for it.

3 weeks before enrollment, I applied for a scholarship meant for Communication students and I got it.
This motivates me even more to continue with my choice.
God does not shut your door before opening another one for you!
I believe strongly in this because I experienced it first hand!

This is my story.
To all my juniors out there, no matter how good or how bad you scored, just remember :

Sometimes, scoring 4.00 does not mean that you'll be given the course that you want.
Few cases happened to the 4-flatters in my batch and one actually went to private university.
Sometimes, getting offered a course that you have no gut to say you want in the first place (like my case) might just opens you to other opportunity.
Sometimes, God has already prepare someting BETTER for you.
Be brave, don't doubt yourself.

All you have to do now is to EMBRACE your result.
What has been done is done.
You gotta learn to make the best out of it.
No point sulking over it now.
Start doing research and try to get the best of what you have.
Find alternatives on how you can achieve what you want with what you have (your result).

If you need advice, ring your seniors.
Ring seniors who are currently in the university you want to apply to.
Ring seniors who scored something similar to you.
Ring seniors regarding anything you need to know.
And just so you know, I'm just a few clicks away.
Feel free to ask me anything, I'll try my best to help :)

I wish you all the best in your university applications. :D
Fyi, USM is a beautiful place. Haha

p/s : if your result is good, start looking for scholarships! if your result is average, go figure how to apply for PTPTN! Don't wait, do it now :D

Four-in-One

Hey readers, so did you miss me? I mean, did you miss my post?
But whatever, because I missed you and my blog!

I have to clarify the reason for me not blogging is because, my sister took my camera to her 3 weeks long student exchange trip in Hunan, China. Now that she's back, I've got photos to post! :D

So, without my camera, life still goes on. Yeap, June has thus far been a happening month to me.
Omitting minor outings with no photographs!

#1 Standard Chartered Fun Run

This was a event planned months before the run. At first, everyone was so enthusiastic about it and registered. In the end, only 4 of us made it to the run. Friends -.-
Nevertheless, we had so much fun even if its only 4 of us! Went to Markets@JayaOne after the Run!
Yes, without taking showers. :D Got myself a handbag from Markets and I loved it ever since!

my number!

with my Kehpoh! ♥

#2 Cousin's Wedding Dinner.

LOL, all the pictures during the dinner is with my uncle and idk when he's gonna upload it. So yeah, this is what I have :) One thing i definitely hate about meeting far relatives is the question they bombard you with!

Have a boyfriend already?
Obviously NO!

vain.

my cute niece, Olivia Lim.

#3 Ciuyi's Farewell!

Try my best not to be too emotional. Yeah, so Ciuyi was one of my primary best friend. I mean the bestest among the best kind of best friend. And she left to further her study in Singapore already! :( Well, it is a good thing for her and we do feel proud and happy for her. But, she will be missed dearly by the primary gang! :')
All the best for her future endeavours!

It feels so good to be meeting all those primary folks! I especially missed Constance, did I mention its been 8 years since we last met?! O.O

Ciuyi ♥

#4 IPTA result

This is a very important milestone in my life! Because this will determine my future path and everything else. So, I got accepted by USM to do Communication. Guess its time for me to let go of Science. :/ Yes, I do feel sad about that, but everything happens for a reason. And I believe I can make the best out of whatever that's given to me! And thus, Penang will be my new home for the next 4 years! Time to rock n' roll in Penang!

I thank my parents for being considerate and even let me have a choice of going IPTS if I don't want to do Communication. My parents are just great! Ilovethem.

What's sad is, all my friends are accepted to different universities. UM, UPM, UKM, UMS, UniMAS, UniMAP, UTeM, UMT, UTHM and UTAR! LOL. Which means, we will all have a new chapter in life, without each other :(

This is something worth feeling sad about and we shall cherish the last 1 month together in Klang for good!

the end.

Anyways, I'm back to blogging and I am gonna update this blog consistently from now on, hopefully.
Thanks for reading! :)

The Penang Stay.

I don't know if you know, that I went to Penang for USM's interview regarding my undergraduate study.
I don't know if you know, I was offered Communication.
I don't know if you know, I was pretty reluctant about going and i actually blogged it too.

You can read it back here.

Anyways, I went for the interview and experienced a 3-day life of a university student. If you guys applied for USM but your course does not require you to go for interview and you are worried you might feel lost when you go there, you can read about my experience here.

I went by flight and reached Penang on 1st May at around 9am. I was considered lucky because I have seniors studying there that were able to guide me around throughout my stay.

partner for the trip- Miss Lynne.

So glad that we took the flight because if by bus/car, it will take up to 4 hours to travel from my place (Klang).

Safely touched down in Bayan Lepas Airport.

My lovely senior and his girlfriend that took care of us throughout the trip!
感恩!

Alright, so first of all, you definitely need a car to travel around comfortably. And I'm glad my senior picked me up from the airport with a car. Haha. He brought us around as though we were tourists. Traffic was pretty crazy itself. And gosh, if you were to drive in Penang, please be safe because Penang drivers are pretty reckless I would say. :/

Lynne and I were supposed to stay at a rented house with my friend's dad. But the location of the house was not strategic enough so we ended up staying in USM's hostel! The one I stayed is called Desasiswa Tekun! It was one out of three hostels that is loacted outside USM. And heck, it was better than my sis's in UM!

The hostel was pretty comfy because they allocate 2 students per room but it was spacious enough for 4! Okay, this might sound pretty racist, but senior said they will definitely allocate you with the same race and in case you don't get the same race, you can ask to change room and your request will be handled almost immediately! O.O

Interior of the room.

For Day 1, we almost went around the whole Penang and also a tour around USM campus. The environment was really good.
Since we are staying in the hostel, we had dinner in a mamak around the campus like a university student too.

Next day, it was Lynne's interview session. So we woke up early and took the campus's shuttle bus to get to the Communication faculty. They basically labelled their shuttle bus by colour - Red, Blue, Purple, Yellow. And different colour shuttle has different route. To go to Communication Faculty, we took the Purple one!

the bridge that connects Desasiswa RST with USM.

view from the bridge. Fyi, you'll enter USM after making a left turn at the traffic light.

this sign was found at every stop in the campus, asking the people not to stand at the road. LOL

Btw, coincidently during our visit it was their Expo Keusahawanan day. It is a subject where every university student have to take and learn how to be usahawan. LOL.

supported my senior, Bella, by buying from her stall.

On second day, we actually have the guts of exploring Penang without my senior's guidance. Took shower and off we went to take the public transport.

Heading out.

In the bus to Komtar.

KOMTAR is basically like their bus terminal. Once you reach there, you'll see 1st Avenue, Prangin Mall, Komtar and i don't remember.

After wandering around for like 2 hours around those shopping malls, we took another bus to Queensbay Mall! It is very important for you to ask people when you are away from home. We almost took the wrong bus and went only-god-knows where. But, we are smart enough to ask the bus driver and locals there. Apparently, the route they hang on the bus is not accurate all the time. So make sure you ask!

Maybe because its a work day, the mall was pretty dead. But, saw this place that I really like ::

The Borders!
Best part of it, it has a Starbucks Coffee Shop inside.
Imagine, reading a book while having a cup of coffee, heaven!

a real lame store name!

After much walking around, we took another bus back to USM. Senior had class in the afternoon and met up with us during evening for dinner. We headed to Georgetown. Penang has the most awesome food ever that cannot be found in Klang!

Kueh Chap, checked.
Char Kuey Tiow, checked.
Laksa, checked.
Har Mee, uncheck. :(
couldn't eat anymore.

My personal favourite - Kueh Chap. It is a dish where it has something like cheong fun plus the herb sauce and some duck meat plus herbal egg. You can also request for some internal organs but I don't eat that, so yeah..

Kueh Chap.

Char Kuey Tiow.

I forgot the name of this.
But it is similar to our Leng Chi Kang.

Random shots ::

The view of Penang Bridge from Queensbay!

So basically, thats all about the Penang trip. University life was pretty simple actually. As for a life as USM student, everything is pretty nice too because the public transport in Penang is clean and comfortable. Btw, right outside of USM, there are a lot of restaurants, stationeries and convenient stores. So, it is really convenient.

As for my interview, they ask pretty standard questions and I assume I did okay since I've been through numerous interviews thanks to Form 6! And well, I am talkative, so I can talk. Haha. My interview mates were pretty awesome people too. One from Perlis and another one from Alor Setar, Kedah. I can already imagine how all-over-Malaysia my friends will be in the future! :D

Ending this post with this ::

Crossroad.

Warning : This post is gonna be a bit emo.
I'm not emo but this is what that is running through my skull.

Two roads diverges into the wood...

Yes, the result for universities's interviews are out. And heck, I got shortlisted for USM's Communication. Good thing or bad thing? This really makes me think a lot. Since graduating from Form 5, I've always wanted to do Communication. But then, there is a part in me that wants to continue with Science, which lead me to Form 6's science stream.

And damn, I did bad for STPM. Like seriously bad to the extent where even I am disappointed with myself. If you think me feeling bad about my result makes you feel worse, stop reading and go fuck yourself.

But still, the part in me that wants to do Engineering is still there, hoping to be a professional in the future. Can I cope with it? After tripping down so hard in STPM :( Honestly, I got no faith to ace Engineering. Lots of people keep telling me that Mass Comm is suitable for me. Really?!

I don't want to regret about this in the future.

Choosing Mass Comm means that I'll be spending the next four years in Penang. Or shall I risk getting Engineering and stay in Selangor? But if I were to reject USM, I might end up in Sabah/Sarawak as well. Some of my friends are brave enough to apply to Kelantan. Salute them.

"Sor Wen, Mass Comm is really suitable for you.." - Miss Margaret Chia.

"She made the right choice." - YeeLing's Dad.

"Go ahead, take it. I think you will do well. A lot of my friends that did Mass Comm are very successful now. But if you get Engineering then you go for Engineering.." - Mr. Moay.

LOL?

The problem with the system is, the result of USM will be released earlier than the other varsities. If I were to reject Communication, I don't know whether I can get Engineering or not. I guess Computer Science is just not my field. Can't even bear to imagine me doing programming for the rest of my life. Worst still, I might be offered some alien course that is not even in my list of choices.

The system is just so fucked up. Why can't they just announce it together? Or at least, USM is announced together with the Research Universities.

Another setback, I feel really sad just by thinking of how far all of my friends will grow apart. Kim's going for music in UM/UPM. Suez will be doing TESL in UM. Jordan might be in Johor. since he got shorlisted by UTHM. Pang, UKM/UMS? Siewlye, Melaka/Terengganu? KahKing, Kelantan? SenChen, no idea yet.

OMG!

Can you imagine this happening? *flipstable*

Enough of scaring myself. Better make sure I pass the interview before I talk any cock anymore. I shall just die in this dilemma. :(

Decisions.

As you all know, STPM result was announced yesterday. Not gonna reveal my result here because it was nothing worth showing off. I assume I did okay, because thats what everyone told me. And now, we are here, at this pathway again. The decision-making stage, to decide what I wanna do next.

Honestly, I'm feeling lost.

I felt I can do better. But yeah, you reap what you sow. I accept my result with an open heart. I'm glad with what I have because I guess I'm a little bit above the average(?) and I hope what I have is enough to get me to a good university.

It was a pretty bold decision to do science in Form 6 instead of Accounts/Art considering that my sister jumped over to Art and everyone assumed that I would follow her footsteps.

Regrets?!

I don't think I have any. I'm happy being in science class and I know my passion is not in Art.

Now, the time has come again. To choose which university and which course to apply. I personally wanted Engineering, but when everyone ask me, in which major? I just can't answer. :/ Sis suggested Computer Science and Mass Communication, it was a pretty sure thing I can get. But I'll reserve that for my last few choices. Teacher suggested Forensic Science. Researched about it, the job opportunities seems a little bit disappointing though. :(

How now?!
This is gonna be the biggest decision in my life so far. And I'm worried. :/

Dad is good enough to not give me any pressure and ask me to go with what I want. The biggest problem now is I don't even know what I want. Why oh why?! Why am I so indecisive? :( Just kill me already.

Congrats to all that did well. Especially those that got 4.0, you're really a fucking genius! And to those who got 3.92, you're a genius already too! Just that luck wasn't really on your side. A shoutout to Kimberly Yong! Congrats kehpoh! So proud of you :) And to the other kehpoh, I'm sure God has a better plan for you ahead. To my dearest excos, Suey Erz and Pangky, congrats too! You guys did well! :) Love you guys with all my heart. Great to be in Form 6 with all of you. I wouldn't have wanna do it with anyone else!
